Bar Soba has always been a Leeds favourite of mine. Tucked away down Merrion Street, this pan-asian restaurant offers stunning food in a beautiful setting (because who doesn’t love an insta opportunity, am I right?). But there’s something I desperately need to talk to you about.
I have seen the future, and the future is cheeseburger spring rolls.
When Rhianna and I were invited to check out the new Bar Soba menu we knew we were in for a good night. Upon arrival we were taken to their private dining space (which is why the food photos are a lil’ bit warm) and started tucking in to the amazing food on offer.
Cheeseburger spring rolls were the first dish of the evening, and they’re as beautifully mad as they sound. Take the nicest cheeseburger you could possibly imagine, add some samba spices, and trade your brioche bun for some spring roll pastry. Add a spicy ketchup and mayo dipping sauce and you’re in heaven. Cheeseburger spring roll heaven.
Now the best thing about Bar Soba is that EVERYTHING else on the menu is great, too. I tried steamed buns for the first time and they blew my mind a bit? The crispy shredded Shanghai pork buns are fantastic, but it’s the miso mushroom ones which are the real surprise. Delicious.
Be prepared for a tough choice when it comes to choosing your main course. Will you go for the amazing Thai red duck leg curry? Perhaps you’ll have another cross-continental dish with the amazing buttermilk fried chicken katsu curry? Or maybe you’ll love the Shanghai pork so much that you’ll get it for your main, as well. Why do the food gods have to make these decisions so difficult?
Looking to try something a bit different when you’re in Leeds? Interested in having a fantastic night with delicious food? Then put Bar Soba on the top of your list, because this isn’t one to be missed.
Have you ever been to Bar Soba? How AMAZING do cheeseburger spring rolls sound? Let me know in the comments.
